Series

Standard knee series (PD fat-sat, T1, PD in any plane) map by cartilage thickness. A multi-echo mapping series or a ready-made scanner map (MapIt, CartiGram) additionally unlocks true T2 relaxometry.

Flag threshold+1.5 SD

Thickness thresholds are femorotibial defaults; patellar and trochlear cartilage is physiologically thicker, so judge those from the table. The bright-signal flag (white speckle) is a heuristic for chondral oedema or fissuring on fat-sat images, not a quantitative measure.
